Privacy Policy
Short version: our tools don't ask for, collect, sell, or share your personal information. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing you type into it is sent to us. Your latest estimate stays only in your own browser, and you can clear it anytime.
1. Information we do not collect
We don't ask for your name, email address, phone number, home address, or payment details. There are no accounts or sign-ups.
2. The calculator
Room sizes, prices, and results are calculated on your own device and are never sent to our servers. So your work isn't lost, your latest estimate is kept in your browser's local storage on this device only. We can't see it. Press Clear it under your total, or Start over, to delete it, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
Share links: when you press Share this estimate, your numbers are packed into the link after the # sign. Browsers never send that part of a link to any server, so the estimate goes only to the people you send the link to.
3. Questions you email us
The "Ask a painting question" button opens your own email app. Nothing is sent until you press Send. If you email us, we receive your email address and your message, use them only to reply, and delete the conversation once your question is resolved. We never add you to a mailing list or share your address. Please don't include personal details we don't need, like your home address or phone number.
4. Spam protection
To stop abuse, each visitor can send a limited number of feedback messages and usage counts per day. To count this, our server converts your IP address into an anonymous code (a salted, one-way hash that changes every day). The raw IP address is never stored, and the counter deletes itself within 24 hours.
To pre-fill your sales tax, our server also reads your approximate country and, in the US, your state from your connection. It is used for that single response and is not stored.
5. Hosting and technical data
Our site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP address, browser type, and request time to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
6. Cookies, fonts, and visitor counts
We don't set any cookies ourselves, and we use no advertising trackers or tracking pixels. Our host, Cloudflare, may set one strictly necessary security cookie (named __cf_bm) that helps tell people from bots; it expires within 30 minutes and is not used for tracking or advertising. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits, pages, referring sites, countries, and device types. It doesn't use cookies or local storage and doesn't follow you across websites. We also keep anonymous daily tallies of which tools are used (for example, "Quote Checker opened 40 times today"), with no identifier of any kind. Our heading font is stored on our own site, and body text uses your device's built-in font, so no third-party font service is contacted.
If you install Paint Calculator as an app, your device keeps a copy of the site's own files so the calculator works offline. That copy contains no personal information. If this changes, we will update this policy before the change takes effect and ask for consent where the law requires it.
7. Room photos and color ideas
When you upload a room photo to preview colors, the image is processed only in your browser. It is not uploaded to our servers or to anyone else, and it disappears when you close or reload the page. Color suggestions are worked out on your device too.
8. Feedback
If you send feedback, we store your rating, the topics you picked, your comment, your estimate numbers (room sizes and costs, not personal details), and the date. We do not store your IP address or any identifier with it. We keep feedback for up to 5 years and then delete it. Please don't include personal details in comments. Email addresses and phone numbers are removed automatically before a comment is saved, and we delete any other personal details when we notice them.
9. Voluntary support payments
Support payments are processed by Buy Me a Coffee and its payment partner. They collect the payment details needed to process your payment under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your card details. Buy Me a Coffee may share your name, email address, and any message you enter with us so we can thank you. We use it only to say thanks, never add supporters to a mailing list, and never sell or share it.
10. Links to other websites
We link to quote sites and other websites. They have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
11. Your privacy rights, including California
Because we don't collect personal information, we have no personal information to access, correct, delete, or sell. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) or other US state privacy laws. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals by default because there is nothing to opt out of.

12. Children
This site is meant for adults planning home projects. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. We will not start collecting personal information without updating this page first.
